Tess was born on a British army base in Germany, to an English / Irish mother and a Gujarati / Tanzanian father - both of whom were in the British army. She lived in Germany, and then Libya, followed by Saudi Arabia, Scotland and then England, before moving to Switzerland in 2009. She joined the British territorial army in 1997, and then trained as a chef in 1999, before gaining her business degree and joining the world of financial services in 2000. A career that has seen her work in Europe, Asia, the Middle East and Latin America.
